Accelerating advancement of Extended Reality technology means more of our days will be spent with an AR layer overlaid on top of everything. Textile patterns with high contrast graphics and pops of colour as calibration marks at key points on the body will develop to allow ubiquitous motion capture software to precisely map a layer of digital fashion over top of our physical garment.

By 2030 new legislation demands that textile products sold in the EU must be long-lasting, recyclable, to great extent made with recycled fibre, free of hazardous substances, produced without adverse social and environmental impacts.

Any new textiles produced is done so within the borders of legislation. Yarns, the key ingredient to any textile, aren’t dyed unless absolutely necessary for function purposes. The majority of the yarns are made from undyed “true colour” yarns and the dark grey shades use a dyestuff made using captured carbon.

Simultaneously our physical clothing will focus more on functionality, protection and comfort. We propose a long sleeved, weightmap cardi style with a removable collar. This Weightmap Cardi is a technical style based on a cardigan look. Different textile weights and thicknesses come together to become a weightmapped garment that is versatile in a variety of climate conditions, and this way of constructing means we can use materials efficiently. A zipper closure combines with a strategically placed single snap button in order to allow multiple options of  wearing the garment. Spacious pockets provide ample room to carry your everyday essentials.

In 2035 all our clothing will have a Smart Textile Passport, which will track every step throughout the supply chain on a Blockchain –  from fibre to usership.
